Staff Changes – One Farewell and two “Welcome Onboards”

Ian Fyfe

There have been a few staff changes recently. Omfax has waved a sad goodbye to Ian Fyfe who Ian and Kathyretired after over twenty years with Omfax. Ian was senior developer at Touch-Base and was largely responsible for the Keyfax product suite as we know it today. He also spent much of his time carrying out installations and upgrades to Keyfax and is well known to many of our customers’ technical teams.

Omfax and Touch-Base got together in real life at Thirteen restaurant and marked the occasion with a thirteen course taster meal.

Ian is looking forward to spending more time with his family and more time sailing, so we wish him a very fond farewell. The farewell meal was also a ‘welcome onboard’ to two new starters:

Tom Perren

Tom has started as a senior developer with Omfax working closely with Ryan Healey and the rest of the Omfax Team.

Tom Perren

Tom is a Chartered IT Professional with over thirty years of commercial software development experience.

Besides these memberships:

  • Professional Membership of British Computer Society (MBCS)
  • Chartered IT Professional (CITP)
  • Fellow of the Institute of Analysts and Programmers (FIAP)

Tom is also a member of Mensa, the high IQ society – just the kind of person you want developing software. He has already been working on some of the key new features in 4.4.7 like the FLS scheduling integration.

Outside of work he has been spending a lot of time redecorating his house, often appearing in Teams meetings with paint still under his fingernails.

This photo was taken a little while ago during his global travelling days, when he was still handsome. I can say that – we’re brothers.

Dean Moffitt

Dean joined us at the end of September. He has over 20 years of experience working with local government, NHS and Housing Association customers, supporting them through their transformation programmes. Dean Moffitt

His role at Omfax is to get to know our customers and see how the whole team can help customers  to get the most out of Keyfax. Amongst other things, he’ll be making sure his customers are upgraded to the latest release of Keyfax so that they can take advantage of the latest features like Fixzy for Visual Assistance and FLS for job scheduling.

Experienced in software product development and data delivery, Dean has always enjoyed getting in front of customers to really understand their challenges and aspirations and play a valuable role in working up solutions and watching these projects come to life.

Coming from a geospatial background and working extensively with Housing Associations and Government, Dean is used to working with complex data and enhancing it to give customers the advantage they need to insightfully manage their assets and assess risk or opportunity.

Outside of work he spends as much time as he can with his three-year-old daughter, who (Dean tells us) has “an unhealthy addiction to babyccinos!”. The rest is spent working with animals, primarily equines, and he has enjoyed working with the World Horse Welfare to rehabilitate and rehome horses. He is always keen to get involved with any local conservation projects (please reach out if in Hampshire & Dorset) and recently planted 2500 trees and hedges courtesy of the Woodland Trust. So he says he feels “fairly smug about my carbon neutrality at the moment”.
